SLUG was born
in Brasilia, capital of Brazil, in 1992. They were influenced by heavy metal
from the 80īs and from the 70īs, mainly Rush, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and
Metallica. The band was originally formed by Carlos
André (guitar, vocals), Zé Mário
(drums) and Gustavo (bass). With this line-up, they performed a few local gigs, receiving enthusiastic acceptance from the public and unexpected good reviews from the media. Encouraged by these events, the band began to rehearse material for their first demo-tape. The "SLUG DEMO-TAPE" (featuring "Refuge", "Outside the Garden" and "Balance") was released in Brazil and other places around the world, resulting in a series of gigs in 1994 and 1995. |

During these two years,
SLUG established for themselves a faithful group of fans and was recognized
by critics from the musical scenario. Their music was refined and the repertory
grew, now reflecting the bandsī own personality, what meant going a little
bit more heavy and trash. In 1996, SLUG went into studios once again, this time to record their first album, SHATTERED produced by Guilherme Bonolo and released in August, 1997. Soon after that, SLUG added another guitar player to their rankings. Guilherme came with the purpose of expanding the musical possibilities of the band and turn their live act still more exciting. |
